On Monday, Mohamad Touhid Hossain, the foreign affairs advisor to Bangladesh’s interim government, stated that former Prime Minister Sheikh extended stay in India will not damage the relationship between the two countries, and they will continue to work towards keeping strong ties with New Delhi.
Hossain made these comments when asked if sheikh’s extended stay in India would affect the relationship between the two countries. Sheikh, 76, fearing for her safety due to widespread violence, fled Dhaka on a military aircraft. She is currently in a secure location in India.

Amid student protests, violence broke out on August 5 after Sheikh hasina resigned and fled to neighboring India, where she is now staying. Following her government’s fall due to a violent uprising, minorities, especially Hindus, have been targeted in the Islamic nation. Apparently sheikh (prime minister of neighbouring country) has been meeting with National security advisor of India Ajit Doval.
Sheikh Hasina Daughter: Saima Wazid
Saima Wazed, the daughter of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh, stated on Thursday that she would not reveal her mother’s location, stressing the importance of keeping her whereabouts secret during the ongoing crisis in neighbour country.
Wazed also mentioned that she will continue her role as the Regional Director for the World Health Organization (WHO) in the South-East Asia Region.
“To everyone who has shown concern: as much as I would love to see Ma, I don’t want to compromise her whereabouts in any way. In the meantime, the work of improving the public health of @WHOSEARO continues!” Wazed said in a post on X.
Saima Wazed previously shared her sadness about not being able to “hug her mother” during these challenging times. She also expressed her deep sorrow over the loss of lives in Bangladesh.
On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his best wishes to Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus as he took on his new role as the head of Bangladesh’s interim government. Modi stressed the importance of quickly restoring stability and safeguarding the Hindu minority.
“Congratulations to Professor Muhammad Yunus on his new responsibilities. We look forward to a swift return to normalcy, with a focus on the safety and protection of Hindus and other minority communities. India is dedicated to collaborating with neighbouring country to achieve our shared goals of peace, security, and development,” PM Modi shared in a post on X. (ANI)
