On Saturday, Gurugram’s Ambience Mall received a bomb threat, leading to immediate action by police and bomb disposal teams who conducted a thorough search of the premises. Later that day, a similar threat was reported at DLF Mall of India in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, prompting search and rescue operations along with the deployment of police and bomb squad personnel to resolve bomb threats.
However, a representative from the DLF Mall administration later clarified that the incident was actually a planned security drill aimed at testing and improving their emergency preparedness. This statement highlighted that there was no real threat at the Noida mall, and the exercise was conducted to ensure the safety and security of visitors and staff and how the safety measures are brought into action after receiving bomb threats.
Bomb Threats drill:
A security mock drill was conducted at DLF Mall in Sector 18, Noida, to test and improve safety measures. During the drill, the entire mall was evacuated, and a thorough inspection took place. Noida Deputy Commissioner of Police Rambadan Singh confirmed that the exercise was aimed at ensuring everyone’s safety.
DCP Singh explained, “We conducted a security drill at DLF Mall to check large areas and make sure no one is at risk after bomb threats. Fire services, dog squads, and police teams were all involved in the drill.” This drill was part of ongoing efforts to enhance security and keep the public safe.
Mohit Sharma, Chief of the Civil Defence Team in Gurugram, informed news agency ANI that the district administration received a bomb threats via email targeting all the malls in Gurugram around 10 am. Following the alert, search operations were immediately initiated across the malls, with police teams, dog squads, and civil defense units actively involved in the search efforts.
The police have urged the public not to spread any false or misleading information about the bomb threat. They’ve warned that spreading rumors or misinformation on social media or other platforms will lead to swift legal action. The police are keeping a close watch on social media to prevent the spread of any unverified news.
