80 Students Hospitalized After Eating Biscuits in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar

At least 80 students hospitalized from a district council school in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar district after consuming biscuits provided through a nutritional meal program.

80 Students Hospitalized:

At least 80 students from a district council school in Keket Jalgaon village, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra, were hospitalized after eating biscuits from a nutritional meal program. 

Around 8:30 am on Saturday, the children started feeling nauseous and began vomiting. Local officials quickly responded to the situation, with the village head and administration staff rushing to the school to help. They promptly arranged transportation to get the affected students to the hospital.

On Saturday morning around 8:30 am, nearly 257 students began showing signs of food poisoning after eating the biscuits. Of these, 153 were taken to the hospital. Some of them received treatment and were sent home, according to Dr. Babasaheb Ghughe, a medical officer at the rural hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar district, as reported by India Today.

Dr. Ghughe mentioned that seven students with severe symptoms were sent to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Civil Hospital for more intensive care.

The school, which has 296 students, is currently investigating what caused the food poisoning.

This incident follows a similar problem earlier this month, when over 80 children at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Ashram School in Mehroona village became ill with stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea after their school meal, according to PTI.

Dr. Babasaheb Ghughe, a medical officer, explained that after eating the biscuits, 257 students showed signs of food poisoning. Of these, 153 were taken to the hospital. Some were treated and sent back home.

Dr. Ghughe mentioned that seven students with severe symptoms were moved to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Civil Hospital for more treatment. The school has a total of 296 students. Authorities are now investigating what caused the food poisoning.
